The perfect base to explore everything that Devon has to offer.

Within easy reach to both the North and South are the National Parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor respectively, providing excellent opportunities for walking, riding and fishing. Just 50 minutes drive to the spectacular North Devon coast with its sandy surf beaches such as Croyde, Woollacombe and Saunton Sands.

Westward Ho!

Pebble ridge + miles of sandy beach + lifeguards + surfers + ice cream = perfect beach experience. This treasure on the North Devon coast has plenty to do, you can learn to ride the waves, walk the dog, arcade games, explore the neighbouring Northam Burrows Country Park, or just treat yourself to a delicious local ice cream.

Saunton Sands

With 3.5 miles of glorious sand, Saunton Sands is one of the best beaches in North Devon for families. Our girls love charging around the huge sand dunes that back onto the beach. Rent colourful beach huts at only £15 a day and gaze across the bay into the Atlantic Ocean.

Woolacombe

There’s no joking about this North Devon beach, one of Britain’s best, this 5 star 3-mile long beach is the ultimate destination for a UK beach holiday. Woolacombe beach lies between Baggy Point and Morte Point, the town itself has a laid back atmosphere and is family friendly. This is a holiday destination that will be on your list of places to keep coming back to.

Rock & Rapid Adventures, South Moulton

The largest and best-equipped indoor climbing wall in Devon, suitable for all abilities. Taster sessions and lessons with all kit provided. Great fun, whatever the weather! 20 minute drive.

Quince Honey Farm, South Moulton

Visit Devon’s working honey farm, set in over 40 acres, with beautifully landscaped Nectar gardens that are planted with millions of bee friendly plants. 20 minute drive.

Boldtry Stables, Chulmleigh

Experience some of the beautiful Devon country sights with a horse ride! 10 minute drive.

Survival Games, Nr Barnstaple

Providing Paintball, Laser Tag and Airsoft in a scenic woodland location in North Devon since 1988. High quality weapons, ammunition, full face safety goggles, and freshly laundered overalls. 40 minute drive.

Exmoor Zoo, Bratton Fleming

Enjoy a day out in the North-west of Exmoor at Exmoor zoo, on the edge of the National Park. Here you can experience a truly unique rural zoo set into a valley in North Devon. 25 minute drive.

Tiverton Castle, Tiverton

Learn about the Castle’s history and secret passages. You can try on some Civil War armour; climb the tower steps and take a stroll around the beautiful gardens. 25 minute drive.

Shalden Clay Pigeon Shooting, Nr. Tiverton

A clay pigeon shooting school with professional instructors. No experience necessary. All ages and abilities catered for and equipment provided. 45 minute drive.

Exmoor National Park

Just over 30 minutes drive from North Lake Chapel you will find Exmoor, an extensive National Park covering relatively wild open and unspoilt countryside.

It is situated in the northern part of Devon and West Somerset and covers 267 square miles, extending from the Brendon Hills in the East to Combe Martin in the West.

​With over 1000km of footpaths and bridleways, through woodlands, past tumbling rivers and on open heather-covered moorland, the variety is vast. There are a number of guided walks available in the National Park, where experts can help you explore the fascinating history and wildlife of Exmoor.
